Last-minute Creative DIY Gift Wrap and Accessory Ideas~ Christmas Edition

"Have a holly jolly Christmas. It's the best time of the year." But is it really for all the people swamped with the responsibility of wrapping all the presents in an innovative and nonrepetitive way?

As much as I enjoy the frantic opening of presents to see if I actually got what I was hoping for, I feel like pre-Christmas preparations truly exert my brain power to the maximum level as opposed to a 100 point final exam because integrating a unique and personalized touch to all the presents is a tough job. A job that I could say almost all people enjoy doing.

Whether it's wrapping a good old bottle of wine in a unique style or adding a bit of finesse to a gift covered in solid-colored wrapping paper, there's actually a galore of minimal yet innovative ways to up your A game in wrapping those presents. Let's get to it!

1. Curling the ribbons

This is exactly what you're thinking, excluding the hot curling iron, although that could work as well. Tying off presents with a ribbon is not the only finishing touch you could add. You also don't need to cut off that extra length of ribbon you thought you needed. Just keep it and curl it!

I think doing this adds a special feel to presents and it should definitely be tried, given the very minimal supplies needed to do so- only a scissor my friend. It's quite simple and I'll tell you how!

Disclaimer: This technique tends to worker effectively with thinner ribbons but knock yourself out if you want to try this with a wider one.

Just a quick pointer: sharp scissor blade= tighter curl, dull blade= looser curl.

Here we go!

1. After you've tied a bow/shoelace knot with your ribbon on the present, take the leftover pieces of the ribbon and identify their natural curl. Ribbon always curls instinctively in a direction so try to find how yours curls.

2. Open your scissors and place a blade on the ribbon.

3. Run the blade rapidly along the ribbon's natural curl and there you have it.

2. Unique gift tags with wrapping paper

When you wrap presents using only wrapping paper, there's fewer ways to indicate that a certain present is for someone. Whereas on a gift bag there is a little tag to write who it's from and who it's for. Now this is where I insight you on a cool idea.

That extra piece of wrapping paper that you thought would be too small could come in handy here because... you could make your own gift tag!

Gift tags are minimal but a great addition because it adorns and personalizes a present. The best part is that they can be designed with literally any supplies and accessories ranging from pens and watercolors to rhinestones and sequins!

3. Wrapping individual pieces of candy (or anything else)

I don't know about you but candy and chocolates are always on my list regardless of the time of year. Suppose you were to gift someone a bunch of Hershey kisses for Christmas. Now you could just use the generic method and put them in a little bag, but there is a way to make it a bit elegant.

Take some wrapping paper and roll it into a cone. Secure the cone with a few pieces of tape or, even better, a staple or two. Make sure to leave the top open so you could fill it with the items.

As you finish placing the items in the cone, fold the higher flap of the cone over the lower and secure with tape to prevent anything from falling out.
